Photographer Spotlight: Rick Decorie - Ld

Photographer Spotlight: Rick Decorie

Today I am introducing a new feature on my blog called the Photographer Spotlight Series. This new series will showcase 2-3 photographers a month. I know I love discovering and learning about new photographers, and I hope you will too!

So, without further ado, I would like to introduce the first photographer, Rick Decorie.

I first saw Rick's work on Etsy; we are both in a number of the same Etsy teams. As a fellow photographer, I checked out his shop and immediately was intrigued by his photographs. I really love his black/white & sepia shots (which you will see examples of in this post), and also his photographs of buildings and structures. He definitely seems to be a natural when it comes to finding really interesting composition, and I really enjoy all the different angles his pictures showcase of different subjects. He also has some great photographs of murals; something you don't see everyday. I would encourage each and every one of you to check out his Etsy shop here

What type(s) of photography are currently doing?

Primarily landscape and nature. I also love to shoot old buildings.

What does photography mean to you?

Photography to me is letting others see things in a different perspective. In other words, I want people to see things how I picture them .

What type of gear do you use?

A couple of old Canon DSLRs and a Canon point and shoot. I rarely use my tripod although I should get in the habit.

Who is your favorite photographer and why?

I don't have a favorite as it is impossible to like all of one person's work.

What is one photography lesson you have learned the hard way?

Take more than one shot of a subject whenever possible.

What goals do you have for your photography?

As much as it would be great getting paid for my photography, the biggest thing for me is to have my work admired.

Are you working on any specific photography projects right now?

Do you sell your photography? If so, where can we find it at?

Yes, I do. I will be branching out to craft shows soon. I have one coming up in Cornerstone Cafe in Onarga, IL. I plan on placing some more of my work in galleries soon. Also, check out my Etsy shop link below.

Anything else we should know about you?

When not out with a camera, I work a few part time jobs to pay the bills. I really enjoy reading photography books and blogs when I can.
