It’s been so quite around here lately…
Yes, sorry about that. Starting around November, things got CRAZY. As some of you may know, I am working on pursuing my master’s degree and am in the thesis writing stage. I hope to complete that this year. I also co-own another small business, and work a regular ‘day job’. I did some traveling at the end of last year as well. As I’m sure you know, sometimes something has to give, and unfortunately, it had to be this for the time being.
That being said, I've been doing a lot of thinking about the direction I want to take the blog, and I definitely still want to continue with it. I not only enjoy helping you and others with photography, I also enjoy sharing my pictures. My love for sharing pictures also keeps me motivated to get out and take more pictures!
What you can expect from me in 2015
My goal is to post a new tutorial/help post once a month, and a photo blog post once a month. I will still post new posts Monday evenings, and am *aiming* for the first and third Monday of each month. Don’t hold me to that though. I will continue to post on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. I will also still continue to send out my email newsletter (sign up here) for those who want to make sure to never miss a post. There is also a new feature I’d like to implement, which I hope to have a post on next week, which will hopefully encourage you to get out and take photos as well!
A major website update may be in the works in the very near future…stay tuned for that.
My Photography Goals for 2015
So, it is March, and I’m just getting around to posting about my photography goals for 2015. That’s the great thing about goals though; you can make and implement them at any time!

Photograph new locations
Last year, it was the year of destination weddings for my husband and I. Not that I’m complaining; it allowed us to do a bunch of traveling to places we had and hadn't been before! This year I’m not planning any big trips, but I do hope to visit some new locations in my local area. I found last year while traveling that being in these new locations really forced me to step out of my photography comfort zone, and be extra creative when taking pictures. I liked the challenge, and would like to continue that for this year. Plus, it’s always fun to visit new places!
I love food (who doesn't?). I love the colors, textures and combinations different foods provide. This year, I want to try photographing food. This is not something I have a lot of experience in, so it’s a good challenge and something I’m looking forward too. I think it’s important to keep challenging and expanding skills!
Enter more photography contests
I haven’t been someone who has entered a lot of photography contests in the past. This is something I’d like to change this year. Sites like ViewBug, Photo Contest Insider provide good resources for national and international contests. I intend to enter some of those, but also local ones.
Seasons of Change
What? Yeah, I couldn't think of a better title…Anyway, I want to take a picture once each season from the same location for the entire year. I would LOVE it if you did this with me! Each season, we’ll share the pictures and take a look at how things change throughout the year. More on this to come, so stay tuned.
What photography goals do you have for 2015? Is it to learn how to shoot in manual mode? Get out and shoot a certain number of times per month? Per year? I’d love to hear about your goals!
